2026’s biggest wedding trends

3 October 2025

Planning your big day? Discover Wedding Coordinator Tasmin Sales’ predictions for next year’s most romantic and stylish wedding party features.

She’s helped planned dozens of beautiful weddings, and advised couples on everything from seating plans to menus, so it’s no surprise that Tamsin is always being asked for her top tips.

So what trends are you seeing?

This year, couples are embracing understated elegance. Think soft greens, earthy tones, and natural neutrals paired with simple yet meaningful décor. Lavish centrepieces are being swapped for minimalist styling. Wildflower arrangements, sustainable décor, and subtle candlelight are proving especially popular.

Another big shift this autumn is the intimate celebration. Couples are choosing quality over quantity, investing in incredible food and drink experiences rather than large guest lists. Think chef-led tasting menus, curated wine pairings, or even interactive cocktail bars.

Pets are becoming VIP guests too – we’ve seen a growing number of couples asking to include their dogs in the ceremony, and as a pet-friendly hotel, we love accommodating these requests. From four-legged ring bearers to dogs joining the photos, it’s a beautiful way of making the day even more personal.

Other rising trends for 2026 include:

Eco-conscious weddings: sustainable stationery, locally sourced flowers, and plant-based menu options.

Statement entertainment: from immersive light shows to live illustrators creating guest portraits.

What’s the best wedding feature you’ve seen this year at Edgbaston Park Hotel?

Children are being given their own spotlight, and we’ve loved seeing how creative couples are becoming with this. From dedicated kids’ entertainers like balloon modellers, to bespoke children’s buffets and even animal encounters with alpacas, couples are going above and beyond to ensure younger guests have a memorable day too. This not only keeps the little ones entertained but also gives parents the chance to relax and celebrate.

What advice would you give to couples planning their 2026 wedding?

The best weddings are those that reflect the couple’s story. While it’s tempting to try and please everyone, the magic really happens when you add personal touches:

Naming tables after your favourite pubs, holidays, or inside jokes.

Designing a wedding cake inspired by hobbies or shared passions.

Including your pets in the ceremony.

Choosing music that tells your love story.

For a true “wow” factor, a trend we’re seeing rise is live wedding art. Couples are hiring painters to create portraits during the day, which not only become a treasured keepsake but also give guests a one-of-a-kind experience.

Another tip is to think beyond the wedding breakfast – couples in 2026 are likely to put more emphasis on the afterparty. Whether it’s a silent disco, late-night street food trucks, or curated DJ sets, this is where couples can really make their wedding feel like an unforgettable party.
