That’s why we’re so proud of our Deputy Head Chef, Sam Sears, who recently completed the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge, one of the UK’s toughest endurance events.
This incredible 100km trek, with over 2,300 metres of elevation, took Sam from the historic Corfe Castle through breathtaking landmarks like Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, and Chesil Beach, before finishing in the coastal town of Bridport.
But Sam wasn’t just doing it for the challenge, he was walking for a cause close to his heart:
‘Crossing the finish line was an incredible feeling – knowing I pushed through the exhaustion and completed it in under 24 hours. But even more rewarding was knowing that every step I took helped raise awareness and funds for The Burnt Chef Project, a cause that’s helping to change lives in hospitality.’
The Burnt Chef Project is on a mission to break the stigma around mental health in the hospitality and leisure sectors by providing vital education, support, and resources.
Here’s what The Burnt Chef Project has achieved so far:
- Over 7,900 people have received free mental health support and therapy
- More than 55,000 wellbeing modules completed globally
- 110 colleagues trained in mental health and stress-reduction techniques
- Active in 182 countries – and growing
