We are proud to be a truly pet-friendly hotel in Birmingham, welcoming both two- and four-legged guests with the same warm hospitality. Our teams play a vital role in creating a smooth, stress-free experience for guests travelling with their pooches, ensuring every stay begins with comfort and care.
On arrival, dogs are invited to enjoy our popular ‘doggy pit stop’ at reception, complete with fresh water, complimentary treats – it’s also the perfect spot for a photo opportunity. This simple yet thoughtful gesture instantly relaxes owners and delights their furry companions, setting the tone for a memorable stay.
We welcome up to two dogs per room at no extra cost, and our dog-friendly rooms are conveniently located on the ground floor to provide easy outdoor access. Guests can also upgrade to our Canine Comfort Package for just £30, which includes a cosy dog bed, bowl, toys, treats, and waste bags – everything a pet might need for an enjoyable visit. Dog treats and chews can also be purchased from the hotel bar area.
Well-behaved pets are also allowed in the 1900 Bar, open from 9am to late and serving breakfasts, light bites and three-course meals.
Our location is another highlight for dog owners. University of Birmingham’s campus (voted the UK’s third most-beautiful) is right on our doorstep. which means guests can enjoy peaceful strolls surrounded by historic architecture and green spaces. We’re also close to a variety of local walking routes and parks, giving pets plenty of opportunities to explore.
For our housekeeping team, offering a pet-friendly service means preparing rooms with thoughtful attention to comfort, practicality, and cleanliness.
Director of Commercial Billy Harris-Wright – whose own Cavapoo Otis is a regular guest – said: ‘It’s not unusual for our team to be greeted with enthusiastic wagging tails, and many pets seem to guide their owners back for future stays thanks to the relaxing surroundings and great walks nearby.
‘Whatever the occasion for your stay, it’s the small moments – a dog settling into its bed, a proud owner sharing a photo, or the tap of paws heading out for a walk – that remind us why being pet-friendly is so rewarding.’
Please note, some guests may be allergic to dogs, so the 1900 Restaurant and some rooms including Feature bedrooms, are kept pet-free. Just let us know you’re bringing a dog when you book, either by leaving a note while booking online or letting reception know over the phone.
